Mahaweli Development Movement introduced the open economy to the country, which created investment opportunities and created new employment opportunities and changed the orientation of the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the information technology has commenced a new journey today on the foundation laid by the UNP.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said that the present government has implemented plans to build a 10,000 acre giant industrial estate for an industrial revival. He questioned whether the opposition candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would oppose the program.
He said the opposition candidate should respond to the question whether he is opposed to the government’s plan to double the tourism industry.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Sajith Premadasa has been engaged in a political mission for 18 years to dismantle the “Walawwa-ism” in Hambantota.
He said that the Hambantota “Walawwa-ism”has not produced housing for the poor, Dhamma school education, kindergarten and vocational training programs in the last few decades while Sajith Premadasa was successfully responding to the requests from people and was engaged in a people’s service.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized that Sajith Premadasa, who as a politician in the Hambantota district worked for the welfare of the country for 18 years, will be the country’s president from 17 November instead of the opposition candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who was introduced as the ‘Terminator’ by his brother.
