Sarath Premasiri, Deputy Director of the Ragama Teaching Hospital said the staff had got to know from visitors that he had contact with returnees from Italy but he had not revealed them.
“As a result we admitted him to a normal ward,” he told News First television. “As a result the consultants, doctors, nurses and minor staff had to be quarantined.”
“If the correct information had been given in the first place we would have been able to isolate him.”
