ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Election Commission will set a date after May 14 to hold the upcoming parliamentary election, the Commission said in a gazette notification.
The election, that was previously scheduled to be held on April 25, was postponed indefinitely owing to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
“The Election Commission will appoint a day coming after fourteen days coming after the 30th day of April 2020 as they day for the taking of the poll,” the Commission said, adding that the said date will be notified by gazette in due course.
