ECONOMYNEXT – SriLankan Airlines is to resume services to Pakistan’s commercial capital Karachi on 1st June 2019 with five weekly afternoon flights.
Sri Lanka’s national carrier said in a statement it will operate flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with flights arriving in Karachi at 3:10 pm and departing Karachi at 4:10 pm.
It stopped flights into Pakistan following the closure of Pakistani airspace by the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan on 27th February 2019 after hostilities between India and Pakistan involving military aircraft.
“Some restrictions continue with regard to Pakistani airspace and SriLankan is awaiting the lifting of all restrictions to re-commence flights to Lahore, which the airline also operated to,” the statement said.
